Incendium to Publish Exodus’ Tales of the Damned and Produce Action Figures

Bay Area metal forefathers Exodus are producing a horror anthology, Tales of the Damned, inspired by the sounds and themes of their classic albums.

Bay Area thrash metal band Exodus is collaborating with production company Incendium to produce a horror comic anthology and an action figure inspired by its classic tracks.

The comic, entitled Tales of the Damnedis a riff off of Exodus’ 2004 album, Tempo of the Damned. The first issue tells a story about a teenage girl who becomes entranced with a mysterious radio signal called the “Wavelength.” When her older sister follows her trail and enters an abandoned town, she learns that her sibling’s disappearance is tied to cursed music known only as the Tempo of the Damned.  The issue is written by Ian Edginton (Aliens, Predator) and illustrated by Luis Guaragna (John Carpenter’s Tales For A Halloween Night).

Exodus Tales of the Damned issue 1

Exodus Organist action figure

The first issue of Tales of the Damned sports a cover featuring the horrific ghoulish figure — dubbed the “Organist” — who appeared on Tempo of the Damned‘s album art. Drawn by artist Ryan Christensen, who has provided art for the likes of Iron Maiden, the Organist will also receive his very own action figure. The five-inch figure features ten points of articulation and a variety of accessories, including a bat sheet music stand, sheet music and a candelabra.

“I’m super excited to see this project come to life. Exodus and comics go hand in hand, and to see the ‘Organist’ come to life in book form and as an action figure? Totally awesome!” Exodus guitarist and frontman Gary Holt said. “I’m looking forward to reading Tales Of The Damned!”

Indencium CEO Llexi Leon echoed these remarks, calling Tales of the Damned a “bloody tribute to the Bay Area legends.”

“We’re all about Myths, Monsters, and Metal here at Incendium, so this unholy alliance has been a blast!” Leon said.

Exodus, originally formed in 1979, are recognized as amongst the forefathers of thrash metal, along with the likes of Anthrax, Megadeth, Metallica and Slayer.  The band’s eleventh studio album, Persona Non Grata, is expected to release in November, roughly coinciding with Tales of the Damned.

Tales of the Damned will be a quarterly anthology series, with the first print edition of every issue limited to 1,500 copies and released in a limited collectible format with cardstock covers, glossy pages and individual numbering. The first issue is available for pre-order for $16.66 from the Incendium website and ships Oct. 31. The Organist action figure is also available for pre-order at $29.95, and ships during the first quarter of 2022.
