Ina Garten scores another best seller, Colleen Hoover keeps top spot on this week’s books list

Colleen Hoover‘s “It Starts With Us,” (Atria Books, 336 pp.) the follow-up to her best selling “It Ends With Us,” keeps the No. 1 spot on USA TODAY’s Best-Selling Books list for a second week. The author had her highest debut ever last week, selling more than 800,000 copies on the book’s first day of sales and breaking her own record, raising the titles listed for one author on the weekly list from 15 to 16.
Sales remained so robust for the book that Hoover’s second week sales were large enough to keep Jeff Kinney’s perennial No. 1 series “Diary of a Wimpy Kid” from the top spot. The latest installment, “Diper Överlöde,” (Amulet, 224, pp.) lands at No. 2. This is the first time since 2009 that an installment of the YA series did not debut at No. 1.

Ina Garten’s ‘Go-To Dinners’ tops nonfiction
The Barefoot Contessa’s latest cookbook, “Go-To Dinners,” (Clarkson Potter, 256 pp.) debuts at No. 4, the highest nonfiction debut of the week. The cookbook, filled with recipes for simple meals including make-ahead dishes, was a labor of love that came out of the pandemic, which prompted Garten to rethink the way she made weeknight dinners and food for small gatherings.
“Everybody’s really kind of struggling because everything seems so much harder,” Garten told USA TODAY’s Morgan Hines. “And we’re all kind of exhausted. So I just thought, the easier I can make recipes for people the happier they’ll be.”
The book, Garten’s 12th USA TODAY best seller, includes recipes for “Overnight Mac & Cheese,” “Chicken in a Pot with Orzo,” and “Cacio e Pepe Asparagus.” It even includes recipes that require no cooking at all, just assembly with store-bought ingredients.

Celeste Ng joins USA TODAY book club to discuss “Our Missing Hearts”
Please join USA TODAY Book Club on Nov. 30th at 7 p.m. ET for our discussion of USA TODAY best-selling author Celeste Ng’s novel “Our Missing Hearts,” which is on its fourth week on the list.
