I’m furious after being fined for parking at McDonald’s charity family fun day

A DAD has been left fuming after being slapped with a fine for parking outside a McDonald’s during a charity family fun day.

Aaron Hamilton, 37, took his partner Francesca and daughter Bella, 3, to the fast food branch in Trafford Park, Manchester, for the event to raise money for Ronald McDonald House Charities earlier this month.

The family friendly activities included face-painting and the chance for kids to make their own ice cream.

It was advertised to take place between midday and 4pm and Aaron’s family stayed for around half the time.

He was stunned to receive a parking ticket by UK Parking Control (UKPC) soon after, despite only parking outside the restaurant for 90 minutes.

He said: “It was a family fun day, it’s not like you are just going to sit down and eat a McDonald’s. You should expect the parking to cover the event.

“I’m not happy about it. I’m obviously going to appeal it, but I shouldn’t have to be spending an hour or so appealing it, it’s a massive waste of my time.”

Aaron insisted that he was not going to pay the fine but admitted his worry that the fine would be enforced by debt collectors.

He added: “it will go on my credit file and that kind of stuff, but it’s the principle.”

Despite this, he was determined that there is “no chance” he will pay the fine.

He is also certain that he will not be the only driver caught out by the parking charge.

McDonald’s said that the car park was run by a third party so they couldn’t cancel the fine.

However, they said that they have heard from UKPC that Aaron’s fine has been cancelled.

He has reportedly been sent a letter informing him of this.

UKPC have been contacted for comment.
