I’m driving a classic Ford , but it’s been abandoned in a field for 30 years

A MAN claims that he’ll hit the road in a classic Ford Mustang, but first he’s got to get it up and running as it’s been abandoned in a cow field for 30 years.

The 1973 Ford Mustang was discovered surrounded by overgrown trees on a property in Tennessee, U.S.

But Chad from This n That Garage on YouTube reckons he can repair the car and use it again.

The video shows Chad getting stuck into freeing the Mustang from a patch of trees where it has been abandoned for the past three decades.

Once the trees are down, Chad manages to get a closer look at the vehicle.

And this is when he discovers the state of the interior – a thick layer of dirt entirely covers the car and there are pieces of scrap metal throughout.

He said on the video: “I just got done talking to the fella that did the trading for this car, and his story is that back in the early 90s, two fellas from Texas came through, and they needed a pickup truck, so he traded him a 68 or 69 Ford.

“They drove [the Mustang] right here and parked it, and she ain’t been started or touched since. 

“So that means roughly 30 years this car has been sitting here.”

Minutes later, Chad had checked the engine to see what was working and what wasn’t.

And he quickly recognises that considerable repairs are necessary before the car can hit the road again.

Unsurprisingly, the carburettor was out of place and the cables had been eaten away by mice, while Chad had to replace the fuel filter and line to improve fuel flow to the engine.

He says: “Other than a bit of lifter noise, she’s running and sounding pretty doggone good.

“About the only thing left to do is get in and put it in gear and see if those back brakes will pop loose.” 

At the end of the video, the classic car finally leaves the cow field with a classic V8 rumble and and hits the open road once again.
