One of those is by stepping into a cold shower, which can not only leave passengers feeling refreshed, it can also help them get over jet lag.

According to Travel + Leisure, it can boost circulation, as well as energy levels for people trying to adjust to a new time zone.

They said: “Hopping in a cold shower can provide several benefits, including increasing your circulation, which provides a quick energy boost if you arrive early in the morning and need to stay awake the rest of the day.

They also quoted online medical resource WebMD, who state that it can make people feel better mentally after a long difficult journey.

They said: “Cold water stimulates the production of noradrenaline and beta-endorphins.

“Electrical impulses are sent from our nerve endings to our brain when we take cold showers, and this chemical reaction may have an antidepressant effect on some individuals.”

A shower after a flight might also be essential, especially if you skipped one before your journey.

This is something Nicky Kelvin, editor at travel site The Points Guy, recommends people do, particularly if they’re flying first thing in the morning.

He said that by skipping the shower first thing, passengers can spend more time in bed snoozing before their early flight.

He told Yahoo Life: “Shower the night before, as this will shave 20 minutes off the time taken to get ready, meaning you can have longer in bed.”

Elsewhere, travel experts at viewfromthewing.com have said that the best way to avoid jet lag, is to adjust to the local time when you board the plane.

They suggest eating and sleeping as if it’s the time at your destination from the moment you board.

Having your meals at the times you will be having them once you arrive can help your body adjust, making it easier for you to get your body in sync.

Meanwhile, this expert has recommended adjusting to a new time zone the day before you fly.

And this list explains the best food and drink to help avoid jet lag.
