I’m a flight attendant – the best seat on the plane comes with a risk

A FLIGHT attendant has revealed the most comfortable seat to book on a plane, but said it could come with a problem of its own.

A former British Airways cabin crew member, known as Sam, has explained where you can get the most leg room on an aircraft.

Sitting at the front of the plane could increase your chances of sitting next to a child

He said that opting to sit in the aisle seat at the front of the plane, you’ll be able to stretch your legs out more than if you were sat anywhere else.

However, Sam also warned that sitting there could increase your chances of having a sleepless flight.

She told the Express: “If you book the middle aisle front row on a long-haul flight, you might get some extra leg room.”

Stretching out isn’t the only perk to the seats either, with those sitting in them also likely to get food service first, since cabin crew will often serve their passengers from the front of the plane to the back.

But the seats aren’t aren’t perfect, as Sam explained: “You’re more than likely to be sat next to a baby.

“This is because this seat has a fold down table for cots/bassinets for babies to sleep instead of on someone’s lap for the whole flight.”

Some airlines have made it easier to avoid sitting next to kids on planes.

Japan Airlines has a feature where passengers can check where babies are sitting on a flight.

The website shows where any child aged between eight days and two-years-old is sat.

Meanwhile, if turbulence makes you nervous then try to grab a seat in the middle of the plane near the wings, and avoid the back of the plane.

According to pilot Jonny Knowlson: “If you’re looking for the smoothest ride, did you know sitting over the wings on a big aircraft that flies at a higher altitude will work in your favour?

“Being closer to the centre of the plane’s mass while forces such as lift, torque, wind, gravity, drag and thrust act upon it will mean you’ll be well placed for a smooth ride.”

Alternatively, these are the best seats to choose for leg room on Ryanair flights.

And this flight attendant picked the best seats to sit in for a journey in economy class.
