I’m a flight attendant & I always travel with £2 item – it’s great on long trips

A FLIGHT attendant has revealed the item she never travels without – and it’s less than £4.

Knowing what to take on holiday, and what to leave behind, is something people get better at with experience.

And few people have more experience of travelling than the flight attendants, who take to the skies most days for work.

Sophie, who is a former cabin crew member for Emirates, explained why she always takes eye drops with her during long-haul flights.

She told Conde Nast Traveller: “When I was an air hostess, I would always pack eye drops.”

“You are spending up to 12 hours on a flight, so your eyes do dry out from the low humidity in the pressurised air.

“It’s helpful to put in eye drops throughout the flight so your eyes don’t get dry – I would reapply every few hours, including after I had a nap in the crew rest compartments.”

The bargain product can be purchased for as little as £2 from online chemists.

It can also be picked up for just £2.50 at supermarket chains like Tesco and Sainsbury’s, and £3.50 on Amazon.

The little bottles are also small enough to fit into hand luggage liquid allowances too.

On the Amazon website, the product has an overall rating of 4.6/5 stars and it’s received rave reviews from customers.

One person wrote: “They’re perfect for dry eyes.”

Another person added: “They’re easy to use and my eyes feel so much brighter when I use this product.”

In addition to the eyedrops, Sophie also recommended travelling with other beauty items like a hydrating lip balm to help keep her lips from drying out on a long-haul flight.

She also revealed that she packs hand sanitiser when she’s travelling.

Another flight attendant, who works for Cathay Pacific, also stressed the importance of using moisturisers on a long-haul flight.

They added: “It is essential for me to carry moisturisers and lip balms on flights to give my skin a little moisture boost.”

There are plenty of other ways to stay looking fresh.

Avoiding tomato juice is also a good idea, according to one flight attendant, as it can make legs swell on a plane.

Sun Online Travel has also previously revealed how passengers can get the best sleep on a plane.

Crew member Kara Mudler explained: “Do not go to sleep at 1pm – wait to fall asleep at a regular time. Your body will quickly re-adjust.”
