I’m a flight attendant – here are 3 ways you can bag an upgrade to 1st class
A FLIGHT ATTENDANT has revealed three ways you can bag an upgrade to first class.
Cierra Misstt, who moonlights as a Playboy model, shared the handy hacks on her TikTok profile.
First of all, she explained an industry secret that could see you bumped up to the best seats when your flight is light on passengers.
Cierra said: “One thing the airlines don’t want you to know is that for the majority of flights, we have to move people for weight and balance purposes.
“If that’s the case, the flight attendants are going to choose the people in the very last row to go up front, because then they can sit down there after doing their service.”
If a plane isn’t full, the weight of the passengers needs to be distributed evenly and as far from the ends as possible in order to keep it balanced.
So, next time you take a half-empty flight, you could see yourself switched to first class seats.
Cierra’s second tip related to the opposite scenario, when your flight is full and overbooked.
Airlines often sell more tickets than there are seats available in order to account for last-minute cancellations or no-shows.
They will then ask volunteers to agree to switch flights and even offer discounts to sweeten the deal.
But Cierra advised passengers not to take this offer and instead try and get a free upgrade, claiming they will give it to you 99 per cent of the time.
She explained: “First go to the gate agent, second give them a price and say that you want that in cash.
“When the gate agent is rebooking you for that next flight, make sure that they put you in first class to compensate for the time that you’re losing.”
Finally, Cierra said that sweetening up the crew by bringing snacks for them could net you better seats.
She joked that staff can work “miracles” when they are treated to a coffee or a tasty treat, such as giving away a free tea or coffee or even offering upgrades if the spaces are available.
It comes after another airline worker revealed the mistake people make before boarding their flight which could ruin their trip.
Meanwhile, a third explained why you could end up regretting asking them to put your luggage in the overhead locker for you.
