According to The Washington Post, several cabin crew members suggested eating foods that are low in sodium.

This is because the foods help to keep energy levels high and reduce puffiness.

The flight attendants recommended foods like carrot or celery sticks as well as protein bars and dried fruit.

Nuts were another popular choice, although they recommended steering clear of peanuts as other passengers can be allergic.

Meanwhile, Michael Rice, who is a flight attendant for a budget airline, recommended eating bananas.

He added: “When you are first starting out, you may pack, like, six bananas. By the time you land, they’re all brown or black.”

Instead of overpacking bananas, he suggested bringing just one or two onboard the plane.

Another flight attendant suggested foods like hard-boiled eggs and fish fillets, although smelly foods are a controversial topic.

It’s largely believed that passengers should avoid taking anything smelly onto the plane too.

Members of flight crew have previously said their biggest annoyances are things like cooked eggs, fish and even broccoli.

One flight attendant said: “When you open the container the broccoli is in, if it’s cooked, oh my god, I want to barf. It’s so bad.”

Skip any pasta – as it “doesn’t reheat well” – while bread rolls are so carb heavy that they can make your jet lag much worse.

Meanwhile a plane food expert recommended avoiding pasta-based meals on the plane.

A woman revealed how she always avoids eating bad food on planes.

And one tourist has explained how she uses a free airport item to get nicer meals in the air.
