I’m A Celeb fans disgusted after Matt Hancock rubs bird poo in his hands
I’m A Celebrity fans are in uproar over Matt Hancock rubbing bird poo in his hands after being responsible for public health during the coronavirus pandemic.
The politician advised the nation to wash their hands while singing happy birthday twice to ensure they were properly soaking off germs that could spread the Covid-19 virus.
However, the MP, whose appearance in the jungle sparked widespread backlash, was forced to resign as health secretary after being caught breaking his own social distancing guidelines while in a tryst with his aide.
On Thursday’s instalment of the juggernaut series, a bird pooed on Hancock’s chair, which he was awarded when he was named camp leader, with Scarlette Douglas informing him of the sticky situation.
The A Place In The Sun host said: ‘That’s not so kind from a bird, but we’re not allowed to touch your chair so we didn’t do anything about it.’
Non-plussed, Hancock simply wiped away the poo with his bare hand, without a second’s thought.
The unsavoury action shocked Strictly’s Seann Walsh, who yelled for the nation when he said: ‘Don’t touch that… what are you doing?’
However, Babatunde Aléshé was mildly less perturbed by Hancock’s bird poo-covered mitts, saying: ‘It’s good luck apparently,’ before adding: ‘Don’t touch that with your hand.’
Seann remarked: ‘He’s rubbing it in like it’s moisturiser [onto the chair].’
After watching Hancock rinse his hand under water, Owen Warner in the Bush Telegraph said: ‘That is our former Health Secretary… ‘happy birthday twice’ he told me and he’s just given a little [flick] after touching poo with his bare hands!’
Fans flocked to Twitter to share their disgust, with one saying: Matt using his hand to wipe off the bird s**t. Gross.’
Another said: ‘Is that symbolic?’
‘The former health secretary everyone #ImACeleb,’ a viewer remarked.
‘That was rank #matt #ImACeleb,’ a shocked viewer penned.
An I’m A Celeb lover wrote: ‘Matt wiping it off with his hand. Absolutely vile.’
I’m A Celebrity continues tomorrow at 9pm on ITV.
