IIPE conducts third annual convocation; chief guest urges students to strive for environment improvement – Times of India
As many as 102 BTech students (56 students from petroleum engineering and 46 students from chemical engineering) were conferred with the degrees during the convocation.
Subhadra Jamkar (a student of BTech chemical engineering) received president’s gold medal based on her academic excellence and merit in extra-curricular activities. Two students from each branch received gold and silver medals for their academic excellence. The medal winners are Deepit Ajit Shah (institute’s gold medal in petroleum engineering); Jefin Jose (institute’s gold medal in chemical engineering); Harshil Padhi (institute’s silver medal in petroleum engineering) and Suraj Kumar (institute’s silver medal in chemical engineering).
Anakapalli district collector Pattanshetti Ravi Subash was awarded with the degree of doctor of science (Honoris Causa) for his service to the society and in public administration.
Delivering the convocation address, the chief guest Prof Archana Bhattacharyya congratulated all the baccalaureate students and welcomed them as the next generation energy leaders. She urged the students to strive for improvement of lives of the citizens within the environment they live in, as environment and development have to be considered together. She sought the students for exploring innovative uses of artificial intelligence in the chosen field of study as they can look forward to some challenging and exciting ties in the coming years.
IIPE director Prof Shalivahan spoke about the institute’s activities. He highlighted some of the achievements and accomplishments of the Institute in his report. He congratulated the students and proud parents on this occasion. He urged the students to be scientific in approach and less stressed in life. On a cheerful note, he asked the graduands to be as ‘Naatu Naatu’, the song which was awarded for its originality; alike the students must live their original life. He emphasized that in the next 25 years before celebrating 100 years of Independence, the young generations have a huge responsibility and have to play a vital role in shaping the Nation as a developed-one with the second largest economy in the world
Dean (R&D) Prof K Vijaya Kumar, associate dean (academic affairs) Prof. Deepak Amban Mishra, Registrar Ram Phal Dwivedi, and others were present in the convocation.
