Looking for a way to beat the heat, or just love a freebie?

Iceland has got Londoners covered, as they’re offering free ice cream and ice lollies across a range of locations around the capital tomorrow.

On Friday June 9, when temperatures are set to reach highs of 30 degrees, the supermarket is popping up to help city-dwellers cool down – all without spending a penny.

Alongside Iceland’s own-brand options – priced at £1 per pack and featuring favourites like strawberry splits and rocket lollies – you can get your hands on Mars, Wall’s, Rowntree’s, Haagen-Dazs, Tango, R White’s, Hubba Bubba, Magnum, Ferrero Rocher, Ben and Jerry’s, Solero, Cadbury and Cornetto treats.

You’ll have to be quick, as the gratis goodies are available on a first come first served basis, from any time between 12pm and 3pm.

There’s also a limit to one product per person, so don’t get any ideas about stocking up your freezer.

Here’s where the ice creams and ice lollies will be handed out:

  • Covent Garden
  • Hyde Park
  • London Fields, Hackney
  • Oxford Street
  • The Green Park
  • Victoria Park, Bow

If you miss out or live too far to get involved, there are plenty of great value summer buys at Iceland.

A range of lollies and ice creams are available at £4 for two packets, while a number of varieties are on offer with up to £1.75 off.

It’s a far cry from the newly-crowned most expensive ice cream in the world, which comes in at £5,469 for a single 130ml serving.,

Not only is it eye-wateringly dear, it also tastes of cheese and fungus, featuring parmigiano reggiano and a rare white truffle flavouring.

We’ll stick to good old vanilla, thanks.
