If there’s someone who has become a father figure to Ice Seguerra ever since he was a child, it would be Vic Sotto.
Seguerra said on Tuesday on her Instagram page that Sotto became his mentor while he was growing up as can be seen in his Instagram post.
“Hindi ko alam kung paano ko sisimulan kasi ang dami kong gustong sabihin (I don’t know how to begin because I want to say many things). I literally grew up alongside this man. Mula Little Miss Philippines ngayon, yung pagmamahal niya sa akin hindi nagbago (From Little Miss Philippines to now, his love for me has not changed.),” Seguerra said in her post.
Seguerra shared that their relationship far exceeded what people saw on television as she felt Sotto was like a father to him because he spent his weekends with him and his children.
Sotto taught him how to play the guitar during taping breaks for “Ok Ka Fairy Ko.” He also taught him how to play Tong Its.
“Sa kanya rin ako natuto ng style pagdating sa girls. Tahimik, disimulado, patingin tingin lang. Hahaha!” he revealed. (It’s from him where I also learned about styles when it comes to girls. Quiet, subtle, just looking around.)
Growing up, Seguerra watched how Sotto worked. He noticed how he would only bring one assistant during film shootings, how he was just at the mess hall bantering with whoever was there.
“Parating maaga sa set, never kami pinaghintay (He was always on time on the set, he never had us waiting). Walang arte, walang yabang (He’s got no qualms, no arrogance). And most importantly, he knows how to take care of us. Grabe siya magalaga (He was great in taking care of us),” Seguerra revealed.
The singer feels blessed that he was able to be with Sotto even when he was very young.
“I will always look up to him as one of my mentors, and I will always love and respect him like a father,” he said, expressing his gratitude for the comedian as he agreed to guest in his 35th anniversary concert “Becoming Ice: The 35th Anniversary Concert” at the Theatre at Solaire on Oct 15 on 8 p.m. /ra
