I was slapped with a massive £580 bill for parking at the airport
A WOMAN has been left fuming after she was slapped with a massive £580 bill for parking at the airport.
The driver, who didn’t want to be named, was hit with the eye-watering charge after spending just 20 minutes at Manchester Airport.
Dropping off a relative, the woman said she only owed £6 for her brief visit at the start of the month.
However, she later saw nearly £600 had been drained from her account.
The 32-year-old, from Cheshire, said the situation is “frustrating and annoying”.
Still waiting to be refunded, she told Manchester Evening News: “They have acknowledged the mistake and apologised but say they can’t find the transaction to refund me.”
The woman said she’s been lucky enough to live off savings – but not everyone would be as fortunate during the cost of living crisis.
In an email sent by Manchester Airport, it suggests the error was caused when the parking system didn’t register the woman leaving after a previous visit on December 23.
Therefore, the woman would have been charged for 10 days of parking.
Manchester Airport said they are aware of the incident and have since launched an investigation.
Confirming the customer was overcharged, the airport say they have apologised and issued a refund.
It comes after one couple returned from holiday to find their car had disappeared.

However, she landed to find her just-filled petrol tank drained.
