I was charged £142 following pre-flight mistake – it could happen to you too
A HOLIDAYMAKER has revealed the simple pre-flight mistake which ended up costing him £142.
Lachlan Harris, from Australia, was travelling from Croatia to Greece with Ryanair.
He said the problem occurred when they missed their 6am flight, and had to pay “a thousand dollars” to get a later flight.
He explained on TikTok: “This is a quick shout-out to anyone travelling in Europe and travelling with Ryanair.
“Do the online check in.”
He continued: “Now we’re at the airport, didn’t check in online, get up there and [staff] say ‘Oh I can’t check you in, you have to go to some other desk for a fee.’
“Here’s the f****** catch – €55 euros for them to do their job.
“For them to sit there and check me in, even though they’re employed to do it.”
He then showed a receipt for €165 after checking in himself and his two mates.
He ended by saying: “Already on a tight enough budget as it is, they don’t f***** tell you.”
Thousands of people have watched his video, with lots of people admitting they were caught out too.
One person wrote: “This happened to us today coming to Athens.
“We tried checking in days before and it wouldn’t let us and we still had to pay at the airport.”
Another commented: “Happened to me too, Brutal.”
A third chimed in: “This has happened to me twice now in the past two months.
“LIke they literally click a button and give you a ticket.”
Not everyone was on his side, as many said that Ryanair explain this on the website.
The Ryanair website currently states it costs £55 to check in for flights, or just £30 on flights to and from Spain.
Earlier this year, another mum made a similar mistake which cost her £165.
Meanwhile, this is how strict Ryanair’s hand luggage allowances are, with extra luggage costing more.
