I tried a flight attendant’s wrinkle-free folding method and it’s life-changing
Airlines have strict rules on luggage allowance and some carriers charge expensive fees if passengers don’t comply with these.
easyJet charges a minimum of £5.99 to bring a cabin bag on board and Ryanair’s luggage fees are between £6 to £30.
Flight attendant Miguel Muñoz told Express.co.uk that the best way to save space and avoid luggage fees is by using the “rolling method”.
The “rolling technique” is one of the most popular folding methods as it saves a lot of space allowing travellers to carry more – and it’s also a wrinkle-free hack.
Experts at the travel blog Goingawesomeplaces explained that “when you roll your clothes in tight bunches, you can fit in more”.

The clever technique also prevents wrinkles as “rolling means there are no mid-torso or mid-leg fold lines because you’ve rolled it all the way up”.
I decided to try out the popular packing hack before going on holiday and I rolled all my shorts, T-shirts, tops and dresses.
I placed them neatly in my suitcase and I was impressed with the amount of space I had left for other items.
Travel experts at Eaglecreek shared how to roll a T-shirt:
- Lay your shirt flat, fold a third inwards and fold the sleeve back over itself.
- Do the same thing to the other side of the shirt. When you’re done, rotate the shirt around 180 degrees.
- Starting from the collar, roll your shirt as tightly as you can.
