‘I travel 6,500 miles to save money on my hair appointments’

A woman who faced colossal charges at her local hair salon realised she could have the same treatments done for less money by traveling further afield.

Content creator Bryn Wright discovered that taking two annual trips to Turkey have hair extensions fitted would cost less than going to her local salon.

Bryn would travel to Salt Lake City biannually to get her keratin hair extensions done for a staggering cost of $4,450, she explained.

A trip to Turkey on the other hand, with flights and accommodation included, amounts to almost half the price at just $2,050, explained Bryn.

In a clip posted on TikTok earlier this year, the content creator brought followers on a trip with her to Turkey, explaining: “I just flew all the way to Turkey to get my hair done. And you’re coming with me to the salon today.

“I know it sounds crazy to travel all the way around the world for a hair appointment, the last time I did this people were so astounded that the video went viral and I actually ended up on the news, I had Turkish guys in my DMs for months and I got a lot of marriage proposals.

“Here’s why going to Turkey to get your hair done is so worth it. I am convinced that Turkish hair stylists are the best in the world. I’m telling you, a few hours in the salon there and they will transform you into the hottest version of yourself.”

US citizens travel across the world for services of all kinds, Bryn explained in her clip, but most do it for dental services and hair transplants.

“Prices in the US are out of control,” she added. “I love my US hair salon and they’re good at what they do, but when they raised their prices for the hair extensions I get to $4,450 I decided that if I wanted that hair, it was just another service I’d have to go abroad for.”

The TikToker has previously traveled to Thailand to get two dental cavities treated for just $92, which is substantially less than the $382 it would have cost her in the US.

Realising that she would no longer afford to have her hair done stateside, Bryn decided to instead put her budget towards a holiday in Turkey, where she’d already earmarked some hair stylists.

“Even though we can only really communicate through Google translate, I completely trust him with my hair,” added Bryn.
