‘I love my armpit hair – I think it’s outrageous other people don’t’
A makeup artist has proudly displayed her months-long armpit hair growth. Anthea Persaud, the Canadian content creator behind Wing It Beauty, is renowned for her impeccable glamour and flawless appearance.
But, she is using her platform to draw attention to women’s body hair. In a TikTok video that quickly gained attention, Anthea explained that she used to shave her armpits multiple times a week, which resulted in dark hyperpigmentation and eventually led her to wax.
Now, she has boldly shared her journey of embracing her natural armpit hair.
“I have never seen a woman with as much armpit hair as I have now,” Anthea said. “By posting this online, I want others to realize that it is perfectly normal.”
Anthea wanted to break the stereotype that a woman must always be hairless, emphasizing that women are multidimensional beings who can embrace both glamour and natural body features.
Her Anthea’s video highlighted the fact that maintaining a hairless appearance requires significant effort and upkeep for women.
The response she received was disheartening,
Anthea said: “The amount of negative comments I got on my video was alarming to say the least.
“People were not accepting of my armpit hair, even though it was on my body.
“That just goes to show how jarring it is for someone to see armpit hair on a woman, which to me is outrageous because it is something that is natural.”
But a number of TikTok users left positive comments too. Maria Huana wrote: “Her armpit hair is healthier than the hair in my head.”
Claire wrote: “But why is your pit hair look soft though?! Mine is so angry.”
Yasmirelda said: “The pit hair came like she’s shampooed and conditioned. So shiny and healthy.”
