‘I keep hearing Mahi bhai’s chants..’: Jadeja on fears of batting higher for CSK
Even after three year of retirement from international cricket, legendary player Mahaendra Singh Dhoni has a fan base that every cricketer dream every single night. With MS Dhoni playing his last Indian Premier League series, it appears that the whole country is trying to give him the farewell.
Considering Dhoni’s popularity among the fanbase, especially for Chennai Super Kings, it becomes difficult even for the other popular cricketers to match that standard. Be it India’s best all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja or star batter Ajinkya Ranane, everyone think the same way.
Apart from this, batting before Dhoni is also a risk as fans keep chanting ‘Dhoni’s name’ the moment CSK batters start the match, waiting for them to get out and Dhoni’s enter the pitch. Just to get a glimpse of Dhoni, fans can do go to any extent.

Jadeja, being the second-most capped Chennai Super Kings cricketer, bats ahead of Dhoni. He says he has constant fear of letting the millions of CSK fans down. Jadeja has walked out to bat ahead of Dhoni, in almost every match of IPL 2023.
Jadeja was declared Player of the Match for his all-round show against DC on Wednesday and feared that if he had batted any higher than No.6 then fans might wish for his quick dismissal to see Dhoni walk out.
“I keep hearing Mahi bhai’s chants. If I bat higher, then the crowd will wait for me to get out. As long as the team wins, I am happy,” Hindustan Times quoted him as saying when asked in the post-match presentation.
In the match, Jadeja cored 21 off 16 and picked up 1/19, when CSK won by 27 runs to almost put one step in the playoffs.
