I hate ULEZ so I’ve taken my revenge on the cameras… I won’t stop
A MOTORIST who hates the ULEZ scheme has revealed how he took revenge on the cameras and said he won’t stop.
The anonymous driver took a video of his efforts, which was then uploaded to Twitter by an account called London and UK Street News.
The clip shows a collection of the number-plate recognition cameras used to enforce London’s Ultra-Low Emissions Zone (ULEZ) charge.
It charges vehicles that do not meet certain emissions standards £12.50 a day to enter London and has been controversial among locals despite strong support from Mayor Sadiq Khan.
The mystery man went on a foul-mouthed rant against the ULEZ while showing the number of cameras he had taken down.
He said: “Here’s what one man can do to the ULEZ in less than half a day.
“F*** your ULEZ. Stick it up you a***.
“No one wants it and this is what we’ll do every time.”
He also took aim at Mr Khan for pushing the scheme, which is set to be expanded out to cover all the boroughs of the capital in August.
The fuming Londoner then went on to explain how he took the cameras down, claiming her could do it in “less than a minute”.
He called on others to follow his lead.
There was a mixed reaction amongst other social media users in the comments.
One wrote: “What a legend.”
However, another said: “You’re wasting our tax.”
Meanwhile, a third added: “Really hope they find this criminal and prosecute him.
“This is completely illegal.”
It comes after the plans to expand the zone came under threat in April as five councils launched legal action against it.
Daming research claimed that the plan will hit London’s economy by half a billion pounds each year in May.
