I flew to Spain for the day – it was cheaper than getting the train to London

A WOMAN has revealed how she flew to Spain for the day – and her overseas adventure was cheaper than getting a train to London.

She shared her journey on TikTok after deciding to fly to Alicante with her aunty.

TikTok user t.rohinix posted a video of her and her aunty flying from the UK to Spain.

In the video caption, she wrote: “This is your sign to go abroad for a day! This whole trip was still cheaper than a train ticket to London.”

They arrived at the airport at 7am for their 8.30am flight.

She added: “We spent eight hours in Alicante, and this is your sign to do it as well.”

After going through airport security, she tucked into a breakfast burrito in the departures lounge.

But their day trip got off to a rocky start after their flight was delayed by 90 minutes.

She said: “We finally got there [Alicante] at about 2pm, and we literally just spent the whole day just exploring. It was the best day ever.”

In the footage, they can be seen walking along the promenade taking in the beachside views.

She added: “And then we went to this weird street called Mushroom Street, where it was just random mushrooms in the middle of the street, so that was pretty cool.

“Then we obviously spent some of the day at the beach, and it just looks like Blackpool Beach, doesn’t it?”

In the afternoon, the pair had Taco Bell for lunch followed by a chocolate and coconut ice cream.

The rest of the day was spent exploring the town before their flight back at 9.30pm.

She finished by saying: “I couldn’t recommend it more.”

In the comments, she explained that the return flights from Birmingham International Airport to Alicante had cost £72 per person.

Meanwhile, Sun Online Travel found return train tickets from Birmingham to London for £80.

Both Ryanair and easyJet operate direct flights to Alicante from the UK with prices starting at £29 for a one-way ticket.

The video has had more than 31,000 views, and people rushed into the comments to share their opinions.

One person wrote: “I’m tempted to do this too.”

While another added: “I would love to do it, but I think I would be knackered.”

Brits have also flown to other parts of Europe for a day trip including Ibiza and Majorca.

Meanwhile, earlier this year, a British woman revealed how she spent just £23 flying to Lanzarote for the day – and even managed to fit in some cocktails on the beach.
