Hunter x Hunter Manga Back on Hiatus as Yoshihiro Togashi is ‘Trying to Figure Out’ Publishing Schedule

The Hunter x Hunter manga going on frequent hiatuses is no surprise for its fans. However, the latest break announced for the manga is a bit different. Creator Yoshihiro Togashi has confirmed that the popular series will be taking a break starting with chapter 401, but this time, it’s not just for Togashi’s health.

According to a recent comment from Togashi, the break is necessary to allow the artist and his expanded staff to figure out a way to keep the manga going without causing too much stress. Togashi’s staff has grown since the manga returned this year, and with that growth comes the need for more rest and better scheduling.

While Togashi’s health has always been a concern when it comes to the manga’s hiatuses, it appears that this time, the well-being of his staff is also a factor. In his note in Weekly Shonen Jump, Togashi said that he is “trying to figure out how to keep the manga going without causing so much stress to everyone who helps me out.”

Unfortunately, it’s not yet clear when the break will end or how the manga will be serialized going forward. The editorial department of Weekly Shonen Jump, where the manga is published, said in a letter (via AnimeNewsNetwork) that once the situation regarding the manga’s return becomes clear, they will reveal them in the magazine.

Hunter x Hunter has had a long and successful run, with two television anime series, two anime films, and several original video animations (OVAs) to its name. The manga returned after a nearly four-year hiatus in October 2022. Let’s hope that Togashi and his team can find a way to keep the story going without burning out.
