HUNDREDS of flights have been cancelled this week due to more strike action across Europe.

A 24-hour strike by air traffic control staff in Italy is to take place this Friday.

Due to the ENAV strike, flights to hotspots across Italy have been cancelled.

Italian flag carrier ITA has said they have been forced to cancel 200 flights, affecting destinations such as Rome and Milan.

Around 13 flights to and from London have been cancelled as well.

The airline said they were working on transferring any passengers affected by the cancellations onto other flights.

EasyJet has also warned passengers to expect disruption although have not yet confirmed which flights have been cancelled.

They confirmed in a statement: “We have been informed of national strike action in Italy on Friday October 21, which will affect Air Traffic Control and Ground Handling services.

“Like most airlines operating to and from Italy, we may see some disruption to our flying programme on this date.

“We advise customers travelling to, from or within Italy on Friday October 21 to allow additional time to travel to and from the airport and to check the status of their flights on our Flight Tracker on our mobile app or website.”

Passengers affected will be contacted by the airline, and are being advised to change their flights free of charge or to request a refund.

Sun Online Travel has contacted Ryanair and British Airways for comment.

He explained: “If your flight is cancelled, regardless, you are always entitled to a choice of a refund or the next available flight.
