The Aussie actor has revealed they have broken up with their fiance of eight months following a whirlwind romance.
Hugh Sheridan has announced they have split from their fiance after being engaged for eight months.
The Australian actor, 36, took to Instagram this morning with a lengthy post wishing their partner Kurt Roberts a happy birthday, before revealing their relationship had fizzled.
“In retrospect, having a first public relationship, that public, that fast, might’ve been too much pressure on us,” they wrote.
“Maybe it was COVID or quarantines or us working to (sic) hard (I take the blame for full responsibility for the working hours), maybe it’s dads death or all the above.
“The point is Kurt is incredibly kind, someone who is earnestly caring and helped me through a very tough time.
“Transparency is what I promised you all. For now we didn’t make it, but we tried very, very hard, I’m so sorry for us that it wasn’t easy and I’m sorry for the added pressure.
“Lots learned, the heartache is heavy, but zero regrets for the greatest love.”
The Packed to the Rafters star and Roberts became engaged in March after just three months of dating, with Sheridan popping the question on stage during the first night of the Adelaide Fringe Festival back in March.
In May, Sheridan suffered a personal tragedy when their father Denis died of cancer aged 74. The following month, Sheridan came out as non-binary in an Instagram post while promoting their cover story with Roberts for DNA men’s magazine.
“I AM still a human (non binary/bi/me/Hughman) but I’m in a monogamous relationship with another human, who I love,” Sheridan wrote.
“I don’t accept a label cause it limits me … if you want it; take it. I chose zero labels for no other reason except the exclusion, limitations, separation, I believe are all one, deeeeep down. & … who know? why chose?!! Be you. Be true. Be free: to BE, to JUST BE.. you, a human, same as me.”
It seems the split happened fairly recently, with Sheridan revealing they were supposed to be landing in Sydney today to surprise Roberts.
“I should’ve been landing in a couple of hours to surprise my best friend,” they wrote.
“Happy Birthday to one of the most beautiful people on earth inside and out. You are an angel and I wish you all the love and happiness you deserve.”
Sheridan went on to detail their whirlwind year after coming out as bisexual last year.
“As you know, a year ago I came out as a human, two weeks later (I) got cancelled, then in the darkness found light in Kurt,” they wrote.
