Huge UK campsite on the beach with golden sands and dolphins swimming off shore
ONE of the biggest campsites in Europe is right next to a beautiful beach in the UK, with golden sands and dolphins swimming in the waters just off shore.
The rising cost of foreign travel means plenty of Brits are considering a staycation, rather than head abroad.
Fortunately, the UK is home to some stunning coastlines and landscapes that would make a perfect holiday destination.
One of those is Shell Island in Gwynedd, Wales.
The 450-acre site is set amongst the unspoilt Welsh countryside, near both Cardigan Bay and Snowdonia National Park.
The campsite promises to “cater for all the family with excellent facilities”.
It has three bathing beaches, all with nice soft sand, with the biggest of the three stretching for several miles and backed by impressive sand dunes.
Visit Wales describe the island as a “paradise” and say that it is named after the huge array of different shells that can be found along its shores
They said: “Most people come to Shell Island for Shells. Shells are found in abundance after the winter storms and high tides. More than 200 different varieties of shells can be found over a season.”
Some of the shells are so small that people bring magnifying glasses to find them.
However, there’s a lot more to discover in the waters, with prawns, crabs and lobsters all making the nearby rockpools their homes.
The marine life doesn’t stop there either, with dolphins even spotted swimming in the waters nearby.
Tiktoker Jody (@jodysworldx) was accompanied by a small pod of the creatures during a boat trip near to the campsite.
In a video she shared, she wrote: “Dolphins came swimming up right next to my boat at Shell Island in Wales.
“They are always there at Shell Island, you can see them from the beach if waters are warm.”
Other people shared similar experiences of the animals visiting them in that spot too.
One wrote: “They do this when I’m parked up on my jetski.”
The site has an overall score of 4/5 from more than 900 reviews on TripAdvisor.
One wrote: “Absolutely stunning site with warm friendly staff.
“I’m rebooking for our summer break this year and can’t wait to go back.”
Another added: ” We loved it that much we’ve booked for August. Highly recommended.”
A night at Shell Island is available from £10.50 per night for adults and £5.25 for children aged up to 13.
They will be hosting Oktoberfest and a fireworks weekend in September before they close the campsite at the beginning of October.
Meanwhile, this UK seaside town is almost like visiting a Greek island.
And you can watch dolphins from a music festival at this UK destination.
