Huge mansion where Channel 4’s The Big Breakfast was filmed goes on sale

The original East London house that once hosted Channel 4’s The Big Breakfast TV show has gone on sale for a staggering fee.

The huge six-bedroom home in Tower Hamlets has been listed online with an asking price of £4.6 million, but could be sold for even more.

The 5,200 square foot property is so enormous it has its own unique postcode.

Sitting next to a canal, the home is a short walk from West Ham Football Club’s London Stadium in Newham.

The property also has its own swimming pool, a cottage, and bullet-proof glass walkways, according to estate agents Hamptons.

The massive price tag is not just for the home’s size – Channel 4’s hugely popular The Big Breakfast show used the house as its set for years in the 90s.

Located in E3, the house sits in Tower Hamlets’ most expensive postcode where homes sell for an average of £821,624, according to Property Solvers – making the Big Breakfast House more than five times the local value.

It is also million more than the average London house price of £699,000 according to property website Zoopla.

Homes across the borough have been selling for hundreds of thousands, or even millions, but Tower Hamlets remains one of the most deprived areas in the UK.

According to Tower Hamlets Council, more than half the borough’s neighbourhoods are among the poorest 20 per cent in the UK.

The average household income in the borough is £30,760 – slightly higher than the £30,700 average – but an average home will cost residents £577,894, while a month’s rent on average costs £2,608 according to property experts Foxtons.

This means that the average Tower Hamlets rent is £31,296 a year – more money than the average annual income.
