The all-new series of Love Island is in full-swing, bringing its trademark blend of hilarious challenges, arguments, and dramatic re-couplings around the firepit. The ITV2 dating show – set in a luxurious Mallorca villa – is expected to last roughly eight weeks.

The latest series of Love Island – Series 10, if you’re keeping count – is broadcast from 9-10pm every weeknight, with Saturdays reserved for the Love Island: Unseen Bits compilation show. On Sunday evenings, Love Island: Aftersun airs after the regular episode of the show, with interviews from the contestants and special guests.

Comedian Ian Stirling is back in the recording booth, providing sarcastic commentary on all of the singletons’ shenanigans as they look for love …not to mention, a lucrative Boohoo deal.

Love Island host Laura Whitmore hasn’t returned for the latest series. Instead, Maya Jama (Glow-Up and Peter Crouch: Save Our Summer) took over presenting duties earlier this year.

Maya Jama hosted the winter series of Love Island from the Ludus Magnus estate, South Africa earlier this year, but Series 10 marks the first time the popular presenter has featured in a summer run of the ITV2 show.

Want to watch Love Island live? If you’re based in the UK, Love Island is available on Freeview, Freesat, Sky Glass, Sky Stream, Sky Q, or Virgin TV 360 on free-to-air channel ITV2. New episodes of Love Island are also streamed live via the ITVX website or app.

If you miss an episode of Love Island, you can watch all previously-aired episodes of Series 10 via ITVX on your set-top box, streaming dongle, or Smart TV. You’ll need to be a little patient – it can take a few hours before the latest episode is ready to stream on-demand on your devices.

All previous seasons of Love Island are available to binge-watch on ITVX. Unlike previous years, the ITV2 dating show isn’t available on BritBox, ITV Hub, or Netflix in the UK. In other words – it’s ITVX or nothing.

For those outside of the UK on holiday, travelling for work, or living abroad …things get a little more complicated. ITVX is geo-blocked, restricting access to only viewers inside the UK. Fortunately, you can use a VPN to swerve the geo-restrictions.

The best VPN to stream Love Island on ITVX from anywhere is ExpressVPN, which currently offers 3 months of FREE access. This superb VPN service earned the full five stars in our in-depth ExpressVPN review.

Some earlier seasons of Love Island UK are available to stream in the United States without geo-restrictions via Hulu. New subscribers can watch previous seasons of the show at no cost, thanks to the Hulu free trial. Unfortunately, the tenth series of Love Island UK didn’t start on Hulu until June 10, so US fans have a little bit of catching up before they’ve seen all of the same drama as ITV2 and ITVX viewers.

Those based in Australia can stream Love Island UK from Nine Network’s catch-up service, 9Now. Again, there is a delay between the UK broadcast and the Australian showing, but it’s much less egregious than Hulu, with 9Now usually one episode behind what’s available to stream on ITVX.

In the past, Love Island was available to watch on Netflix, but the rights have since reverted back to ITV – so ITVX is the exclusive place to watch on-demand episodes and live broadcasts of the hit dating show.

Love Island channel numbers

Love Island (Season 10) airs on ITV2 and ITVX in the UK.

The show is broadcast from 9-10pm Monday to Sunday, although the Saturday show is a compilation of extra footage from the previous five days under the Love Island: Unseen Bits brand. An additional show, Love Island: Aftersun, hosted by Maya Jama from London, broadcasts after the Sunday edition of Love Island, roughly 10pm GMT.

How to watch on ITV2

• Freeview channel 6
• Sky Glass / Sky Stream channel 118
• Virgin Media TV channel 176
• Freesat channel 113

Love Island: Aftersun will see Maya Jama catching up with Islanders as they leave the Villa, conducting first-hand interviews with family, celebrity fans, and ex-Islanders. Exclusive unseen footage will also be shown during the show.

For those who can’t get enough of the gossip from inside the villa, ITV will also produce an official Love Island podcast – dubbed Love Island: The Morning After – hosted by Sam Thomspon and Indiyah Polak as they chat through their thoughts on the latest bombshell dumpings and recouplings.

ITV2 is available on Freeview channel 6, Sky TV channel 118, Virgin Media 176, and Freesat 113.

Love Island is available to watch on ITVX live and on-demand. The streaming service, which launched last year, can be downloaded and installed on iPhone, Android, Roku, Sky Glass, Sky Stream, Apple TV, Fire TV, Roku, iPad, and Sky Q, to name just a few. You can also login and watch online.

As well as each new episode of Love Island UK as it airs, ITVX includes every single previous series of the rebooted Love Island, which started back in 2015.

Currently abroad? Unfortunately, ITVX is only available in the UK, so you’ll need to bypass geo restrictions to watch live and on-demand episodes of Love Island UK using a VPN, like ExpressVPN. The latter is offering 3 months free and 49% off the remaining months of your subscription plan.

VPNs can bypass geo-blocks as they allow you to manually change your IP address, which makes it appear as if you’re located in another country – allowing you to access to streaming services, live sports fixtures, and movies not currently available in your current location.

It’s also possible to use a VPN to find cheaper flights too, thanks to a quirk of how prices are determined by the airline.

Of course, securing one of the best VPN deals is not just about streaming Love Island from anywhere – these apps encrypt everything you do online, preventing anyone from keeping tabs on your activity. In some countries, your internet provider is able to sell data on your web browsing habits to advertisers, with a VPN running, even the company that provides your broadband connection won’t be able to see what you’re doing. Think of it like Incognito Mode, but cranked up to 11.

Watch Love Island online for free

In the UK, Love Island is available to stream live or on-demand exclusively via ITVX. Best of all, it’s completely free of charge.

For those who don’t know, ITVX was launched last year as a replacement for ITV Hub and BritBox. ITVX has apps for all of the main platforms, including iOS, iPadOS, Android phones and tablets, Amazon tabletsFire TV, Android TV, Roku, Samsung Smart TVs, Nvidia Shield, Xbox Series S, and Xbox Series X

Sony Playstation 5 and Nintendo Switch owners aren’t able to download the ITVX app.

Of course, you can use any web browser (Google Chrome, Safari, Firefox) to stream live shows and on-demand episodes from the ITVX website. For those in the USA, Hulu is the only place to watch Love Island UK. Meanwhile, Australian fans who want to stream the latest events from the Mallorca villa will need to head to 9now

How to watch Love Island 2023 in the UK

If you’re looking to watch the new series of Love Island from the UK, there are multiple ways to tune-in.

From the moment the singletons enter the Mallorca villa, the bombshell dumplings, the fallout from Casa Amor, to the winning couple seizing the £50,000 cash prize, all of the drama will be broadcast live on ITV2.

If you’re looking to watch on telly, ITV2 is available on Freeview boxes and Freeview-equipped Smart TVs on channel 6, as well as Sky Q, Sky Stream, and Sky Glass boxes on channel 118 (HD) or channel 816 (Standard Definition).

Virgin Media customers will need to tune-in to channel 176 (HD) and channel 115 (Standard Definition). Freesat viewers will need to head to channel 113 for ITV2.

Viewers located in the UK will also be able to use ITVX to watch everything live or on-demand.

Each episode of Love Island will be available to stream live as it airs on terrestrial telly, with the on-demand version of the show available to stream or download to watch offline after the broadcast has finished.

There’s sometimes a short delay between the end of the terrestrial transmission and the on-demand version being available to watch, so don’t panic if you can’t see the latest episode available to watch on ITVX at 10.01pm.

ITVX can be downloaded and viewed for free in the UK, with unskippable adverts funding the service.

However, those who want to watch the episodes on-demand without the ad breaks can pay £5.99 per month or £59.99 per year to remove all adverts from the streamer.

This paid subscription plan, known as ITVX Premium, includes exclusive boxsets from BritBox in the catalogue, thousands of exclusive ITV X shows, and the ability to download episodes onto your device to watch anywhere – even without Wi-Fi.

ITVX is currently offering a 7-day free trial of its Premium service.

Sky Stream and Sky Go customers who pay an extra £5 to skip adverts when watching on-demand shows will be able to watch ad-free from ITVX too. If you’re looking to upgrade your package, we have an in-depth guide to the best Sky deals.

How to watch Love Island UK from anywhere in the world

Want to watch the brand-new series of Love Island from anywhere? You’ll need a VPN, or Virtual Private Network, installed on the iPhone, Android, iPad, Windows PC, Fire TV Stick, MacBook, or whatever device you’re planning to watch on.

For those who don’t know, VPNs are clever apps that re-route all of your internet traffic via an encrypted tunnel – shielding it from advertisers, prying eyes, bad actors, and more. Since everything is encrypted, your personal details and data are better protected. It’s the reason that most companies require all employees to use a VPN to work remotely.

Since your internet traffic is being re-routed, it’s easy for VPNs to push your traffic via different server locations across the planet, making it appear as if you’re connecting to the internet from another part of the globe.

Switching server locations will change your IP address – the string of numbers that identifies your device (and your current location) to online services and websites. This is what allows Google Maps to generate turn-by-turn directions from your current location, retailers to tell you which of its branches is closest to you, or takeaway websites to work out the best delivery address for you.

For those looking to stream from catch-up services, sports fixtures, or streamers not available in every country worldwide …it’s the IP address that can blocks you from watching.

If you’re hoping to watch ITVX from anywhere on the planet, all you’ll need to do is select a VPN server in the UK, wait for the connection to be established, and voila! Head to your web browser and head to ITVX as you normally would and everything should work exactly as it does when watching from your sofa in the UK.

This is perfect for anyone travelling with work or on holiday who doesn’t want to miss a single episode.

If you haven’t already got a VPN subscription, we’d recommend either ExpressVPN or NordVPN.

Both of these services are superb choices, with minimal impact on your download speeds despite the vast distances being travelled (perfect when streaming high-quality video), offer bundles with other useful applications (password managers, secure online storage), and boast server locations across dozens of countries.

Here are a few simple steps on how to do…

• Download a VPN, the best two are the ExpressVPN or NordVPN

• Load up your newly-installed VPN

• Select a server based in the UK

• Head to the ITVX website or open the ITVX app on your device

• Select Love Island

• And that’s it! Everything should load as if you’re sitting on the sofa at home

To watch episodes that are already live, head to ITVX. Remember, you’ll need to make sure you have a valid TV license to watch any UK TV show when overseas.

How to watch Love Island UK from the USA

Hulu is the exclusive home of Love Island UK in the United States, with Series 9 (broadcast earlier this year) already available to stream in its entirety on the platform. Hulu has confirmed that Series 10 of the British dating show will be coming soon.

Unfortunately, for those who want to avoid spoilers on social media, new episodes of Love Island UK land on Hulu a few weeks after they have already been broadcast on ITV2 and ITVX.

Hulu subscribers can watch the drama unfold with or without adverts depending on the cost of their monthly subscription. Ad-supported subscription plans for Hulu start from $7.99 per month, with the option to bundle sports coverage from ESPN and Disney+ for $9.99 per month. Pricier plans offer access to Hulu without interruptions from adverts too.

If you’re new to Hulu, you’ll be able to sign-up for a one-month free trial. During that time, you’ll be able to binge-watch as much Love Island UK as you can manage – without paying a thing!

Of course, just like UK viewers who are abroad for work or holidays, those in the United States can stream from ITVX using a VPN too. We’d recommend ExpressVPN due to its minimal impact on download speeds, varied server locations across the globe, and 49% off monthly subscription costs when you sign-up for a longer plan. Check out the latest ExpressVPN deal.

How to watch Love Island UK from Australia

Just as Love Island: Australia is hugely popular in the UK, the British version of the dating show has its fans down under. As such, it’s possible to watch the latest drama from the Mallorca villa on Nine Network’s catch-up service, 9Now. There is a slight delay between the UK broadcast and the Australian showing, with 9Now usually one episode behind what’s available on ITVX.

As such, if you can’t possibly wait to see the latest drama, you might be better served by taking advantage of the latest ExpressVPN deal to stream from ITVX from anywhere in the world. In all honesty, the difference between the UK broadcast and the Australian one is pretty minimal and, when coupled with the time difference, it’s unlikely to impact your enjoyment.

It’s much less of an inconvenience than the difference between the UK air date and episodes of Love Island series 10 streaming on Hulu in the United States of America.

When did Love Island 2023 start?

Love Island returned to screens on Monday June 5, 2023 at 9pm GMT. For those who missed the start of the drama – and the first summer series for new host Maya Jama – all episodes broadcast so far in Season 10 are available to watch on ITVX.

The dating show series is broadcast every weeknight, although the new episode that airs on Saturday is a compilation clip show of previously unseen footage from the previous week, known as “Love Island: Unseen Bits”. On-demand versions of the show will be available to watch on ITVX, with those who pay for a premium subscription able to watch ad-free.

ITV hasn’t confirmed the length of the tenth series of Love Island, but based on previous years, we’d expect to see the dating show continue for roughly eight weeks – or around 50 episodes. That would bring the series to an end around Sunday August 6, 2023.

Where is the Love Island villa?

After a stint in South Africa for the latest winter edition of Love Island – the first series hosted by Maya Jama, following the depurate of Laura Whitmore last year – the dating show returns to its usual location in Spain.

The Mallorca villa is the same estate that hosted the show last summer.

What is ITVX?

ITVX is a replacement for ITV Hub, which was itself a rebrand of ITV Player.

ITV Hub launched back in November 2015 and became the only way to stream live content from ITV and catch-up with previously-aired episodes of its hit shows. ITVX was gradually rolled-out, starting November 17, with existing apps on Sky Glass, Sky Stream, Virgin TV 360 and other set-top boxes switching to the new branding overnight without any input from viewers.

Its official release date was December 8, 2022.

At its core, ITVX is very similar to ITV Hub – it offers access to live streams of all ITV channels (ITV1, ITV2, ITV3, ITV4, ITV Be) and on-demand episodes of shows that have already aired on ITV channels. With the rebrand to ITVX, the broadcaster is refocusing its efforts on streaming and wants viewers to think of ITVX as a competitor with the likes of Netflix, Disney Plus, and Prime Video …rather than an online alternative to ITV+1 that you’ll only use if you forgot to hit ‘record’ on your Sky Q box.

itvx app

ITVX replaced ITV Hub and BritBox – it’s the exclusive home of Love Island (Image: ITV)

As such, ITVX arrived with a number of exclusive new series that currently have no broadcast date on ITV’s terrestrial channels, including all-new dramatisation Litvinenko starring David Tennant, which tells the true story of the poisoning of an ex-Russian spy across four episodes. ITVX also launched with a four-part psychological thriller called Without Sin starring Vicky McClure, and cold war drama A Spy Among Friends with Damian Lewis and Guy Pearce.

As it stands, the only way to watch these shows is to download ITVX, something that never happened with ITV Hub.

What devices can download and watch ITVX?

If you were able to watch ITV Hub on your phone, tablet, set-top box or console… then chances are, you’ll be able to download and watch ITVX. The broadcaster has ensured that viewers who are used to streaming ITV shows and boxsets will not be cut-off following the splashy new rebrand.

The full list of platforms that support ITVX are…

  • iOS (12.2 or later)
  • Android (5.0 and up)
  • Amazon Fire TV & Tablet
  • Android TV (please note: some models aren’t yet supported)
  • Apple TV (tvOS 12.2 or later)
  • BT TV Box Pro and Mini
  • Chromecast
  • Freesat (not all models and brands are supported)
  • Freeview Play (not all models and brands are supported)
  • Huawei Phones and Tablets
  • LG Smart TVs (2016 and above)
  • NOW Smart Sticks and Boxes (minimum firmware v11.0.2)
  • Roku Streaming Players (minimum firmware v11.0.2)
  • Samsung Smart TVs (2016 and above)
  • Sky Glass
  • Sky Stream
  • TalkTalk TV Hub
  • Virgin Media, Virgin TV 360, Virgin Stream
  • Google Chrome, Safari, Microsoft Edge, Firefox web browsers
  • Xbox One / One S / One X
  • Xbox Series X
  • Xbox Series S

Do you have to pay for ITVX?

You can watch live and on-demand episodes on ITVX for free. However, the streamer does offer a paid subscription tier, called ITVX Premium, which unlocks a number of perks.

ITVX Premium subscribers can watch everything on the streaming service advert-free and download episodes to watch offline on your smartphone or tablet – perfect for any upcoming flights. ITVX Premium also includes thousands more hours of TV shows and exclusive boxsets from BritBox. The subscription is available for £5.99 per month, or £59.99 a year.

ITVX is currently offering a 7-day free trial of its Premium service.

Can you watch ITVX outside of the UK?

No. Unfortunately, ITVX restricts its content so that only those located in the UK can stream and download episodes.

In the past, it was previously possible to stream everything from the ITV catch-up service, then branded as ITV Hub, from countries outside of the UK for an optional monthly fee, this option has been ditched in the switch to ITVX.

The explanation behind the change is due to the UK’s decision to leave the European Union, ITV explains in its FAQ.

“Since the UK has left the EU, the portability law that allows digital content to be accessed across Europe will no longer apply. In order to make sure we’re ready for this change, you will no longer be able stream catch up programmes outside of the UK.”

While ITV Hub allowed viewers to pay extra to watch abroad, the option was ditched with the switch to ITVX

It’s possible to download episodes of your favourite show to view offline – on a plane or train, for example – with the ITVX app on your iPhone, Android, or iPad. This feature also allows you to watch episodes, documentaries, and films outside of the UK …however, it’s not a good solution for a show like Love Island, which airs new episodes every evening.

To access ITVX just like you would when sitting on the sofa at home, you’ll need a VPN running on the same device as the streaming service. We’ve got all of the instructions you need to get everything up-and-running from anywhere in the world below.

Is Love Island on ITV Hub?

You might’ve noticed the ITV Hub app has vanished from your Smart TV, iPad, iPhone, Android phone or tablet. That’s because ITV ditched the previous catch-up service last year, in favour of its new solution – ITVX. This supercharged streamer combines ITV Hub with new boxsets commissioned specifically for ITVX as well as exclusive shows from BritBox.

ITVX is a free-to-use app and website works in exactly the same way as ITV Hub, so if you’re familiar with how to stream on-demand episodes or download shows to watch offline with that service, you’ll have no trouble working ITVX.

If the ITV Hub app on your device hasn’t been replaced automatically with ITVX (this happened for some Sky TV box owners, but likely didn’t with some other gadgets) you’ll need to head to the app store and search for “ITVX” to download the new software. On Windows, Chromebooks or Mac, you’ll need to launch your web browser and head to itvx.com.

Is Love Island on Netflix?

Unfortunately, for those who already subscribe to Netflix and don’t want to cough up for another streaming service, Love Island UK is no longer available to watch advert-free on the service. The popular ITV2 dating show used to be available to stream on Netflix UK, but sadly, the show was removed from the service back in April 2019.

Before then, Netflix UK viewers had been able to stream the first three seasons of the show after it returned in 2015. On-demand versions of the latest episodes that were broadcast on ITV2 were still only available on ITV Hub (the service that preceded ITVX) but those who wanted to binge-watch older series could still enjoy a wealth of episodes on Netflix.

After it was pulled from Netflix UK, new series of Love Island were no longer added to the streamer after they finished airing on ITV2 and ITV Hub. Instead, on-demand episodes could only be viewed on ITV Hub and BritBox UK, which offered ad-free viewing and downloads to watch offline, for a monthly subscription fee.

Searching for Love Island on Netflix UK these days will only return alternatives, including Too Hot to Handle and Love is Blind. Both of these shows were exclusively commissioned for Netflix UK, so you won’t find these anywhere else.

In the USA, Love Island USA remains in the Netflix catalogue.

UK viewers who want to see what the Stateside version of the ITV2 dating show, which is narrated by Scottish comedian Iain Stirling – just like the UK show, will need to use a VPN to access the American library from the UK.

We’d recommend ExpressVPN to stream Netflix US in the UK, thanks to its 3 months free subscription offer and the fact that it has a dedicated internal team tasked with unblocking server locations for UK viewers trying to pair a VPN with Netflix.

What is Love Island?

Love Island is a reality TV show that first premiered on the UK’s ITV2 network in 2005 under the title Celebrity Love Island.

The show is a dating competition in which a group of single men and women, known as Islanders, live together in a villa in a beautiful tropical location. The islanders are constantly under surveillance and are required to couple up with each other in order to remain on the show.

Throughout the series, the islanders participate in various challenges and activities in order to win prizes for the villa and get to know one another. The audience is never sure whether the relationships being formed are genuine …or purely for the cameras in order to avoid elimination and be in with a chance to win the cash prize.

Love Island soon became a cultural phenomenon, regularly attracting 5.61 million viewers

The show was co-created by Richard Cowles, who was also responsible for creating other successful reality TV shows such as I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here! and Hell’s Kitchen. The first series of Love Island was set in Fiji and featured only 11 islanders, with the first couple to win the show being Jayne Middlemiss and Fran Cosgrave.

The series was not an immediate hit and received mixed reviews, but it was enough to warrant a second series the following year. However, the failure of the second series – broadest during the spring-summer season – to gain traction led to the cancellation of the show in November 2005.

Years later, the co-creator of the show pitched a reworked version of the show, which debuted in 2015. Unlike the original version, there would be no celebrities featured, with everyday people parachuted into the villa instead. Caroline Flack replaced Patrick Kielty, Kelly Brook and Fearne Cotton on presenting duties.

Although the 2015 series wasn’t a runaway success, the fanbase for the show has steadily grown each summer.

The following seasons of Love Island have become more popular and culturally relevant with each iteration, with a peak audience of 5.61 million viewers tuning in every night during the fifth season of the rebooted Love Island, which saw Amber Gill and Greg O’Shea claim the £50,000 prize fun. The show’s success led to numerous spin-offs in other countries around the world, including Australia (which is also popular in the UK) and the United States, to name a few.

The dating show has become an important part of British popular culture, and it has launched the careers of several contestants who have gone on to become celebrities in their own right.

Despite the criticism and controversy that the show has faced over the years, Love Island continues to be a major commercial and critical success for ITV and has become a permanent fixture in the UK’s television landscape.
