How long to beat Hogwarts Legacy: What is in the post-game?
HOGWARTS Legacy will be released tomorrow (February 7) for those who pre-ordered the game, and people are excited to dive in.
It’s the grandest Harry Potter game ever made, and offers a lot more to do than games you’ve played in the past.
We’ve had a chance to already play Hogwarts Legacy, and know how long the story will take depending on your playstyle.
Here’s everything you know about Hogwarts Legacy’s main story, side quests, and what you can do after the credits roll.
Hogwarts Legacy: How long is the main story and side quests?
Depending on how you want to play Hogwarts Legacy, you’re going to spend differing amounts of time playing the story.
Most of the content is in the side missions, which are given by different people around the school.
Our fastest player took 21 hours to get through the main story by in-game time.
However, it appears that the in-game timer stops in menus such as when managing spells, equipment, and your inventory.
In real time, we think it took around 27 hours when we focused on the 44 main story missions.
However, there is a huge amount of secondary content, including collectibles, assignments for teachers, and favours for classmates.
If you attempt to squeeze all you can out of Hogwarts Legacy, we expect that you’ll spend more than 50 hours with it.
Hogwarts Legacy: What is the post-game content?
After the main story, you have the option to keep playing Hogwarts Legacy.
This allows you to freely explore the school and its surroundings, as well as clean up any side missions you didn’t get the chance to find or finish.
There are also some new missions that will be triggered as soon as you complete the main game.
This is part of a new story arc called ‘Prepare for the O.W.L.s’ and is divided into two new main missions.
- Speak with Professor Weasley
- Complete your Wizard’s Field Guide
Once you complete these there is another mission to complete called ‘The House Cup’.
This will see you attend the end-of-year feast in the Great Hall, but it has a fairly high level restriction.
You’ll need to be level 34 to complete the post-game, which is quite a few levels higher than the level needed to finish the game.
If you want to catch up on the controversies surrounding the game, and the books’ author, J.K. Rowling, you can read our explainer at that link.
