How Crystal Palace players fared during the international break

In the meantime, five Palace players received a call-up to travel around the world representing their countries in the last week.

Joachim Andersen, Jordan Ayew, Cheick Doucouré, Marc Guehi and Michael Olise all received a call, but Andersen was forced to stay at home due to an injury he picked up in the warm-up prior to the Arsenal game.

Marc Guehi suffered the unfortunate fate of being in the last England squad before the World Cup and the first one after it, despite not being selected to make the trip to Qatar.

In this international break, he was an unused member of the squad, but his selection highlights his stellar performances this year which he will hope to continue to keep the Eagles in the top flight.

MORE PALACE NEWS:

Cheick Doucouré was selected for Mali and played 70 minutes in a 2-0 win over Gambia. However, he was an unused substitute yesterday (March 28) when they played Gambia again, this time falling to a 1-0 defeat. Hodgson might be pleased to see an important player rested for the second match.

Jordan Ayew was selected for Ghana as they faced Angola twice this week. His team, under their new manager Chris Hughton, took four points from the two games and Ayew started both fixtures.

Michael Olise represented France u21s as they fell on the wrong side of a 4-0 loss to England. Olise played 73 minutes but could not help his team avoid defeat. He then played a full game against Spain in a deeper central midfield role as they were held to a 0-0 draw.

The French team, with Olise playing an important role, and remain one of the favourites for the U21 Euros, but they were not at their best in these two games.

They will all travel back to take part in training under Roy Hodgson as they seek to find some momentum to end the season.
