What’s the worst thing you’ve witnessed on a plane?

A passenger was left disgusted when a woman began brushing her teeth while seated next to them on a flight.

The onlooker was left even more in shock when the woman proceeded to spit into a cup after she’d finished brushing.

The apalled traveller took to Reddit to complain after witnessing the lack of plane etiquette,  which took place on a 14-hour flight to London.

The anonymous complainer said to make matters worse, the toilets were only a few rows in front of them and unoccupied.

On a thread called PassengerShamin, user anyiar0cks wrote: ‘So, I was on a 14h flight to London. Next to me was an Australian couple. I fall asleep, then woke up to the girl brushing her teeth from her seat?!

‘Then she proceeded to spit in a cup, shook the toothbrush in the air to dry it out, and kept the cup there for 4h. The toilets were three rows in front of us (and were free).’

The user also shared a photo of the ‘spit cup’, which was a small plastic cup of discoloured water with a wooden mixer stick poking out.

Is this okay behaviour?

There are no comments on the post yet, but people tend to have strong feelings about teeth cleaning on public transport.

A Londoner was previously shamed after cleaning his gnashers on the Tube. Well, he did spit onto the platform, so you can’t blame the disgruntled commuters.

Jackie Vernon-Thompson, who From the Inside-Out School of Etiquette, previously told us some other no-nos to avoid on planes.

Smells are to be avoided at all costs, said Jackie, so pongy foods such as seafood, onions and garlic should be off the menu.

‘If you know your feet will have a foul odour, don’t take your shoes off,’ she added.

‘If they’re uncomfortable – well, you should have worn more comfortable shoes and controlled your hygiene better.

‘If you do take them off, it’s not appropriate to walk anywhere on the plane barefoot or in just socks – put them back on before leaving your seat.’
