The developers behind the hit action RPG Genshin Impact are working on another title in their Honkai series of games, Honkai: Star Rail. The company unveiled a new story trailer for the game at Gamescom 2022’s Opening Night Live show.
The trailer showcases multiple characters, of which one seems to have a nightmare about events occurring in the past. We also get to see the train in the trailer, which the game heavily features in its promotional materials. The trailer itself is very vague and doesn’t give many details about what’s to come, except for showing who could potentially be the protagonist and the antagonist.
The tactical RPG is the fourth instalment in the Honkai series. There are new characters introduced in the game, and existing characters from the Honkai series featured in Star Rail are alternate versions except for Welt, from Honkai Impact 3rd.
Honkai: Star Rail features a spacefaring train as Honkai is the antagonistic force of the franchise. Just like Genshin Impact, Star Rail will have players create a party of four characters. However, unlike Genshin, Star Rail has turn-based combat. It does feature an open world and domains just like Genshin though.
The game had its first beta testing on October 26, 2021, which ended on November 1, 2021. A second beta testing program took place this year on May 25 and ended on June 15. You can check out the official closed beta trailer below:
The game sees Welt Yang from Honkai Impact 3rd travel to a parallel universe to go on his own journey. There, we are introduced to the Astral Express and its crew. Characters such as March, Dan Heng, and Asta are introduced here.
