Holly Willoughby grins with beer as she escapes This Morning scandal in Portugal

This Morning star Holly Willoughby, 42, appeared not to have a care in the world as she continued to soak up the sun in Portugal.

The blonde beauty was snapped with a beer in her hand as she spent time with her loved ones at the beach, while scandal continues to rage on around the ITV show she hosts.

Holly’s trip to Portugal marks the first time she’s been seen out and about after her former co-presenter Phillip Schofield, 61, admitted to having an affair with a younger male runner who worked on This Morning.

Despite the furore surrounding Phillip’s confession and subsequent resignation from ITV, Holly looked happy and carefree as she walked barefoot by the sea.

The smiley TV star looked stylish as ever in a black swimsuit, which she paired with grey denim shorts and a sunhat, complete with a black ribbon.

Holly accessorised with a pair of oversized sunglasses as she brought ice lollies, coffees, and glasses of beer to her group, who were pictured relaxing on the sand in sun loungers.

The mum-of-three was also spotted with a surfboard under her arm and carrying a large bag while smiling and admiring the view.

In another picture, Holly teamed her swimsuit with a beach cover up shirt, covered in bright red embroidery.

Holly seemed to be moving on from the scandal, as she previously admitted feeling “hurt” that Phillip had lied to her about his relationship.

She shared via Instagram last weekend: “When reports of this relationship first surfaced, I asked Phil directly if this was true and was told it was not.

“It’s been very hurtful to now find out that this was a lie.”

Holly has since taken an extended half-term break, leaving Alison Hammond and Dermot O’Leary to front This Morning after Phillip left the show.

Holly’s holiday snaps come as ITV bosses have hired a top barrister to lead a review into its handling of Phillip’s affair with his younger colleague, which the presenter described as “unwise, but not illegal”.

Chief executive Dame Carolyn McCall said: “Given Phillip’s admission of the extent of his deception the work will extend to cover any related issues that may emerge. This work will be carried out as quickly as possible and we will be happy to share the outcome.”

The barrister will “review records and talk to people involved”, meaning that Phillip’s former colleagues, including Holly and Alison, may need to give statements.

It has also been reported that Holly has no intentions of quitting This Morning and hopes to “ride out the scandal”.

A source told The Mirror: “The only way in which Holly would ever choose to leave the ITV programme is if the show itself was axed as a whole.

“Holly wants to stay at This Morning as long as she can and hopes to ride out the scandal. Other stars like Stephen Mulhern are being approached to fill in for Phil when she returns.

“Some are reluctant to go in and face angry viewers. Holly is determined to stay put…She has absolutely no plans to leave.”
