Holidaymakers will take royal decorations on holiday with them

Brits will be making the most of the coronation bank holiday weekend by jetting off on holiday – but over half have deliberately sought out resorts and destinations that will be screening the royal spectacle, research has found. Despite leaving the country for sunnier climes over the long weekend, 15 percent still plan to seek out a British pub to celebrate the festivities this Saturday – although 23 percent will be raising a glass to King Charles and Queen Camilla from a beach bar.

Nearly three in ten (28 percent), of the 2,000 adults polled, plan to pack their own decorations to mark the occasion – with 21 percent taking their own bunting to hang, and 13 percent packing a King Charles III Coronation mug.

And 15 percent even plan to bring a portrait of the new King with them in their luggage, to celebrate the historical moment.

The research, commissioned by easyJet Holidays, also found that one in three holidaymakers have already reserved tables at local bars, to ensure they secure a prime view of the event on a big plasma screen.

A further one in ten intend to book a table once they arrive at their destination, with a third planning to eat at a British pub or restaurant on May 6 to commemorate the day.

In a nod to those celebrating the coronation from a beach, the world’s first Buckingham Palace sandcastle bucket was created for easyJet Holidays, and was unveiled on West Wittering Beach.

But you won’t be able to fit it into your luggage – as the seaside accessory measures three feet wide by 0.8 feet high by 0.6 feet deep, and can hold three to four kilograms of sand.

It can create an unbelievable sculpture with 760 windows and even four gates – that is one big castle.
