Holidaymakers use kids to score empty sun beds – as pool is swamped in seconds
HOTEL guests have been filmed sprinting for sun loungers as soon as the pool was opened by staff.
Every summer, holiday resorts become the sites of battles for sunbeds, with guests getting up first thing in the morning to reserve the best spots.
The latest scenes have been captured at a hotel in Malaga, with people seen waiting for staff to open the pool, before running to get to their favourite loungers.
Some parents had even brought their kids down to get involved in the race for beds, getting them to run ahead of the crowds.
The footage was captured by Tiktoker Lindsey Hall (@lindseyhall77) who shared it online.
It has since been seen more than 800 times, with several people responding with the cry laughing emoji.
Lindsey suggested the main culprits in the poolside scramble were British, using the hashtag #BritsAbroad.
However, not everyone agrees that it’s the Brits who are the worst at hogging the sunbeds, with Germans and French people also in the firing line.
Another video, shared on Tiktok by user Daxi sparked debate about which nations are the worst offenders when it comes to sunbed hogging.
A German commenter wrote: “I’m German and live in the U.K. On my last holiday to Greece it was the English that had the towels out before 6 am.”
Meanwhile, someone else said it was French holidaymakers who were the biggest hoggers, writing: “The French were up at 5am on my holiday I couldn’t believe my eyes.”
But one Brit admitted that we are just as bad as anyone else when it comes to sunbed hogging.
They said: “I’m at an English hotel in Spain and can confirm it’s us Brits. Lots of towels and no Germans.”
Regardless of who’s reserving the beds, there are etiquette rules for them to follow.
Renowned etiquette expert, William Hanson, believes there is a 30-minute grace period on poolside reservations.
William told Sun Online Travel: “In the morning, at the start of the day, if you’re by the pool after breakfast, then it’s fine at 8.30 to put your towel on the bed to reserve your spot.
“But later on in the day after you’ve used the lounger, and go off for a massage, for example, which is going to be an hour, then you can’t use a towel to reserve the sun lounger.”
Meanwhile, hotel staff have been filmed getting revenge on guests, by removing the towels from their sunbeds.
And another guest claimed fights had broken out between people staying at the all-inclusive resort he was at.
