Holidaymakers make mad 6am dash for sun loungers at Spain resort

Julie Larsson shared the video while on holiday in Majorca.

Captioned “holidays in Spain” she explained the video was “sunbed wars at 6am”.

The video shows loads of people taking their towels to the sun loungers to reserve them for the day.

Lots of people were putting them on the best loungers by the pool leaving bags as well to make sure they had them for the day.

Her video has been liked thousands of times with some people saying this was something they did.

One woman wrote: “My dad always got up at 7 am and did this.”

However, most people were baffled by the holidaymakers.

Someone said: “Never understood why people go on holidays like this.”

One person commented: “This is mayhem of a vacation.”

A third had even less sympathy: “If they leave the premise I’ll remove the towels and take the beds. Be there or bye bye.”

The practice of putting towels on sun loungers to reserve them is common with Brits and German tourists at holiday resorts.

It’s not just Spain – in 2017, dozens of holidaymakers were caught sprinting for loungers in Sardinia in the morning.

In 2018, a man revealed he even broke his toe during the morning sunbed rush.

To solve the problem, tour operator Thomas Cook let holidaymakers reserve hotel loungers via an app.

Following the Choose Your Favourite Sunbed service, they said half of their loungers were booked up.

However, the common sun bed war was put on pause by the pandemic – and it looks like it will be coming back again this year.

Last year, a “sunbed hogger” sparked fury after brazenly dumping water bottles and towels to “reserve SIX loungers” at 7am at a resort.
