The Foreign Office has launched an awareness drive so globetrotting Brits can beat the holiday chaos wrecking thousands of plans.

A handy guide lays out the complex rules for more than 200 destinations including Covid policies and local laws.

Navigating different countries’ varying pandemic precautions are still proving a huge headache for some travelling Brits.

Passengers are also urged to get travel insurance in case the airport carnage sends their booking up in smoke.

The Get Travel Smart campaign is on the Government website and social media feeds this summer.

More places are now declaring themselves open for tourists after being effective no-go areas during lockdown.

This week Egypt became the latest nation to scrap all rules for holidaymakers.

Brits previously needed to be fully vaccinated or take a Covid test 72 hours before travelling.

Jennifer Anderson, Director of Consular at the Foreign Office, said: “People are naturally excited about what may be their first holiday abroad for two years.

“The first step for anybody thinking of going abroad is to Get Travel Smart and check the FCDO’s travel advice and subscribe to updates.

“In the event of an emergency overseas, a consular officer is available 24/7 to provide initial support and advice.

But purchasing the right travel insurance, declaring any pre-existing conditions and familiarising yourself with policy exemptions is an absolute must.

“Without insurance, you risk being left with a bill of thousands of pounds if things go wrong while abroad.”
