Hogwarts Legacy Massive May 4th Patch Introduces Visuals And Performance Improvements On All Formats

A new massive patch is now live for Hogwarts Legacy on PC, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X, and Xbox Series S, introducing a huge number of changes and improvements on all platforms, including some welcome visual and performance improvements.

Alongside the many visual and performance improvements, the May 4th patch also introduces an Arachnophobia Mode that changes the appearance of all enemy spiders, removes skitters and screeches, turns static spider corpses in the world invisible, and more. The patch also adds support for the new Professor Ronen Cosmetic Set Twitch Drops, fixes multiple collections and Field Guide Pages issues, and more.

The new Hogwarts Legacy patch also brings select performance fixes and improvements for the PC version of the game. Alongside solving graphical corruption issues at various locations of the game, the patch brings optimizations for Apparate, Disapparate, and Spell/AOE at low settings, shader type compilation optimization, performance, and functionality enhancements. The patch also updates NVIDIA DLSS to 3.1.2, AMD FSR to 2.2, and Intel XeSS to 1.1. Last but not least, the new patch also introduces some ray tracing improvements and fixes, such as decals no longer being black with ray traced ambient occlusion, improved lighting and shadows, and more. You can head over here to check out the full notes for today’s patch.

While Hogwarts Legacy was released in a better state than a few other titles that launched in the first five months of 2024, the game was far from being in an optimal state, so all these fixes and improvements are quite welcome. They are likely to make the game more popular than ever as well, although increased success may be hard to picture right now, considering the game has been dominating sales since its release in February.

Hogwarts Legacy is now available on PC, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X, and Xbox Series S worldwide. The game is finally launching on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One in a few hours on May 5th in all regions.
