It was certainly a happy Easter for Hilary Swank as she revealed she welcomed twin babies with her husband Philip Schneider.

On Sunday [April 9] the Freedom Writer actress, 48, shared the joyous news on social media with a picture of her looking at the sunset while she cradled her two adorable babies.

‘It wasn’t easy. But boy (and girl!) was it worth it,’ she shared on Instagram. ‘Happy Easter! Posting from pure Heaven.’

Fellow celebrities rushed to congratulate the new mum, with How To Get Away With Murder mega star Viola Davis writing: ‘Aaaaahhhh!!!!! Congratulations ❤️❤️❤️.

TV personality Chelsea Handler added: ‘Oh, honey! Congratulations!!’

The P.S I Love You star announced her baby joy during an appearance on Good Morning America back in October 2022.

‘I’m so happy to share it with you and with America right now,’ she proudly said. ‘This is something I’ve been wanting for a long time and my next thing is I’m going to be a mom!

‘I’m going to be a mom and not just of one but of two.’

The Oscar-winner did not share her due date at the time, but revealed her excitement at being able to share the news in public.

‘It’s a total miracle. It’s unbelievable,’ she raved.

Hilary and Philip were set up on a bottomless brunch blind date and began dating in November, 2016, according to Vogue.

They eventually tied the knot in a stunning ceremony two years later, with the bride admitting at the time that they didn’t know ‘why we waited so long’.

Speaking about starting a family in 2020, she said that she wanted to start a conversation around women who didn’t have children, as they are often seen as ‘not maternal’.

‘I feel like so much of the time women who either choose not to or can’t have children are somehow seen as not maternal or not mothering and it is a conversation that needs to be had,’ she said.

‘I’ve heard a lot of women say that they’ve been told, “Oh, you’re kind of a failure”. Or “Didn’t you come here to procreate? There are so many different ways to procreate!”’
