Hilarious photo shows road resurfaced AROUND BMW as driver didn’t to move car

THIS hilarious photo shows workers had to resurface a road around a BMW after the driver didn’t move the car.

Signs warning residents that maintenance work would be carried out on May 9 and 10 were put up on Huntley Street in Darlington.

Traffic cones were also put out along the length of the road as a reminder.

But one driver obviously didn’t get the message and left their grey BMW parked up in the street.

Photos reveal that workers carrying out the resurfacing had to work around the car, while a patch underneath the vehicle remained unfinished.

Pictures of the car were also circulated by social media users in Darlington on Facebook.

One poster wrote: “Oops. Someone didn’t read the road signs.

Others though speculated on the reason why the car was left, with some suggesting the owner could have been on holiday or ill in hospital.

“The thing that’s getting me is they would have had to move the cones to park the car. The signs were there a few days before the work was carried out,” added a commentator.

“There’s always one,” someone else added, “Should have Tarmacked over it,” said another, while others called for it to be towed and the costs charged to the owner.

The residential street is close to Darlington train station in the centre of the town and commentators were also quick to point out that it is free to park there.

A spokesperson for Darlington Council said:  “As the vehicle in question has been left in an area without parking restrictions, we’re not able to take action against the driver on this occasion.

“Attempts have been made to contact the owner to ask them to remove it but so far without success.

“This does mean that the road resurfacing has been carried out around the vehicle, leaving a patch behind – this will be dealt with at a later date when the car is finally removed, but it will mean an extra cost to the council and the patch will be visible.

“Signage advising of planned maintenance works is put up in good time with the aim of avoiding situations like this.”
