‘Highly recommend’ Best type of cruise cabin named

Becky Hawker, travel consultant at Southampton Cruise Centre, shared her advice with Express.co.uk. She said there’s one cabin she’d “highly recommend”.

Becky said: “If you’ve never cruised before, you may be overwhelmed by the choice of cabins.

“From an interior cabin with no window to a penthouse suite with a private wrap-around balcony and that’s before you consider the location onboard the ship.

“For those who haven’t cruised before, there are cabins located high and low, as well as front, middle and back.

“Midship cabins are best for those sensitive to motion sickness and I’d highly recommend a Balcony cabin to soak in the views over a cup of coffee in the morning.”

Interior cabins are usually the cheapest option but might feel claustrophobic to some travellers.

Suites will be the most expensive option but some of the options on offer for families are truly incredible.

Royal Caribbean recently unveiled the plans for its next ship, Icon of the Seas, which includes a huge suite for a family of six.

Passengers who are worried about seasickness are best opting for a midship cabin where the motion is often felt less.

DON’T MISS

She added: “My best advice for saving money is to sign up to the cruise line’s membership programmes.

“For example, sign up to MSC Cruises Voyagers Club and receive a five percent discount all year round!

“And, your discount is applicable with a travel agent too!”

Cruise lines membership clubs will usually offer members the best deals first and they may also be the first to hear about upgrades.

Becky said: “Another top tip, book on board. When you book your next voyage whilst on board, you’re provided with extra benefits such as on board credit or savings.”

Cruise lines will often encourage passengers to book their next cruise before they’ve disembarked.

Passengers might be offered an attractive deal if they’re lucky and loyal customers may receive more benefits.

Some loyal customers are rewarded with the chance to dine at the Captain’s Table on some cruise lines.
