High blood pressure diet: The 60p snack to avoid hypertension symptoms

High blood pressure is a very common condition that affects more than a quarter of all adults in the UK – although huge numbers of people don’t even know they’re at risk. You could lower your chances of developing hypertension by adding more chia seeds to your diet.

High blood pressure is often known as ‘the silent killer’, because it rarely causes any noticeable symptoms.

You could lower your risk of the condition, which is also known as hypertension, but making a few changes to your daily lifestyle.

Exercise is crucial for avoiding high blood pressure, as well as some easy diet swaps.

However, one of the easiest ways to lower your chances of hypertension is to regularly eat chia seeds, it’s been claimed.

Nutritionist Dr Sarah Brewer wrote on her website, MyLowerBloodPressure.com: “Chia seed fibre, omega-3, and antioxidant polyphenols have beneficial effects on the liver and circulation that can lower blood pressure.

“Chia seeds also contain fibre, lignans, antioxidants, magnesium, calcium and potassium which together have an even more powerful effect against high blood pressure.

“Because of their high fibre content, eating too many chia seeds can lead to bloating and abdominal pain from trapped wind.

“Eat chia seeds in moderation, and always drink sufficient fluids to help them swell.”
