Here’s why Deepika Padukone skipped San Diego Comic-Con
Deepika Padukone’s upcoming mega-budget film, Project K, was supposed to be unveiled on July 20 at the San Diego Comic-Con. It is the first time an Indian film has been released at the prestigious event. In an unexpected turn of events, speculation has emerged that Bollywood superstar Deepika Padukone may skip the highly anticipated Project K launch. The reason for her possible absence is thought to be the ongoing strike by Hollywood actors.
According to an industry source, Deepika will miss the event and will follow SAG-AFTRA guidelines for actors during the strike, which began last week.”With the SAG-AFTRA strike underway, the union has specified that actors cannot provide promotional or publicity services. That extends to appearances at conventions, such as the San Diego Comic-Con. Accordingly, as a member of SAG-AFTRA and in line with their membership regulations, Deepika Padukone will not be attending,” the insider said. Deepika Padukone is a SAG-AFTRA member.
The Screen Actors Guild – American Federation of Television and Radio Artists (SAG-AFTRA) went on strike against studios and streaming services on July 14. SAG-AFTRA members are not only actors in films and television shows. They have over 160,000 members, including video game players, radio hosts, models, and YouTube influencers. SAG-AFTRA represents approximately 160,000 performers worldwide, including actors from films and television shows. During the strike, the union has given its members some ground rules to follow. They are not permitted to participate in film promotion tours, attend festivals, premieres, or award ceremonies.
Prabhas and Kamal Haasan, Project K’s co-stars, will reveal the film’s official title, trailer, and release date on 20 July. It is one of the most anticipated films of the year, starring Kamal Haasan, Amitabh Bachchan, and Disha Patani in pivotal roles.
