Here’s how Nothing Ear (1) may have looked without the transparent case – Times of India

When Nothing announced its first product — the Ear (1) — globally, people got really impressed with the entire transparent design of the Earbuds including the case. And, ever since the transparent design has become the company’s philosophy that we saw with other devices — Nothing Phone (1), Nothing Ear (2) and also expected to feature in upcoming Nothing Phone (2).
Carl Pei, the founder of Nothing, has emphasised several times that making a transparent design takes a lot of effort and attention to details. And, recently Pei tweeted that he had a backup plan for Ear (1) case design.
Nothing prototyped non-transparent case for Ear (1) case
Pei has tweeted from his official Twitter handle that they also made a backup plan with a non-transparent case for the Ear (1) TWS earbuds. Here’s what the tweet reads, “With Ear (1) in 2021, we introduced Nothing’s design identity to the world, but we also learned the hard way that transparency wasn’t easy. We even prototyped a non-transparent case as a backup plan, but we quickly came back to our senses.”
Nothing Ear (1) without transparent case: How it looks
Pei also posted the prototype image of the Ear (1) without the transparent case. The case looks completely different from the transparent case that we have seen. The Ear (1) in the image has a rectangular case in White colour with Ear(1) placed inside it. There’s a Nothing logo at the top left side and a light indicator at the front. There’s a button as well placed at the left side of the case.
Nothing to launch Phone (2) soon
Nothing has been gearing up to expand its product portfolio with the launch of Nothing Phone (2). Pei has already confirmed that the handset will be powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 chipset. In addition to that, we’ve also seen several tweets from him revealing some key details about the upcoming smartphone like new customisable Glyph interface. Nothing Phone (2) will also run Nothing OS 2.0 which is expected to bring several changes and improvements in terms of features, design and user experience.
