The sun is shining, temperatures are getting warmer and sunglasses are getting donned – it can only mean one thing: the new series of Love Island is just around the corner.

Fans of the ITV2 reality dating show will know that this time of year brings with it a villa full of new contestants looking for love in the 2023 summer series of the hotly discussed sensation.

Many will be looking forward to spending their summer weeknight evenings catching up on all the drama, romance and (hopefully) multiple twist and turns, as host Maya Jama opens the doors for another sizzling series.

So, now that we all know that summer doesn’t truly begin until Love Island starts, when can fans expect to see the villa back on screens?

When could Love Island 2023 start? Rumoured summer start date

While no date has been confirmed by ITV yet, the rumoured start date is said to be June 5.

A source told The Sun that: ‘Love Island will start on June 5, just as people are getting ready to enjoy their summers.

Sanam Harrinanan and Kai Fagan are announced as the winners 'Love Island' TV Show, Series 9.

‘ITV have already lined up the islanders who will be heading to the show’s villa in Majorca.

‘The cast will fly out late next month ready for the show to begin in just eight weeks.’

The source added that the series will run for eight weeks and that Maya was ‘chomping at the bit’ to get to work.

They explained: ‘Having her on board has given Love Island a real boost and it’s expected that ratings will soar.’

The summer series follows not long after the winter 2023 series concluded, which aired its final episode back in March.

That series – filmed in South Africa rather than Mallorca – was won by Kai Fagan and Sanam Harrinanan, while Ekin-Su Cülcüloğlu and Davide Sanclimenti were crowned winners of the main summer series last year.

Producers will be hoping for a better reception to the main series, as the January series saw the show slump to its lowest ratings in seven years, even though Maya Jama proved to be a hit among fans in her first series replacing previous host Laura Whitmore.

Despite this, the winter show is reportedly being brought back next year by ITV2.

When could Love Island 2023 summer series end?

The series is expected to last for a total of eight weeks.

So, doing some quick maths here, if the show does indeed start on June 5, then we can expect the final to fall on July 31.

Rumours of who will be competing in the show have already started to heat up as anticipation for the series grows.

Among those rumoured include economics graduate Andre Furtado and actress Molly Marsh, who is none other than the daughter of Coronation Street star Janet Marsh.

Keep your eyes peeled for even more details as the rumoured start date edges closer and closer.

The Love Island summer 2023 series will air on ITV2 soon.
