The US Open 2022 takes place this week, with a strong field of British tennis players taking part in this year’s tournament.

Emma Raducanu is back at the scene of her famous victory 12 months ago, whilst Andy Murray returns to the tournament which saw him win his first Grand Slam title after a gruelling final against Novak Djokovic in 2012.

The pair will be joined in New York by the best British tennis has to offer, including world No 9 Cameron Norrie, fresh from his Wimbledon semi-final appearance earlier this year.

But which other players make up Team GB at the competition?

Which British players are competing at the US Open 2022?

Defending champion Raducanu enters the US Open after a year of struggles with fitness and form since lifting the Venus Rosewater Dish at Flushing Meadows last year.

The teenager has only made the second round in each of the Grand Slams since that dizzying night 12 months ago, and has suffered from blisters and rib problems in 2022.

Raducanu was spotted with tape on her right wrist and looked troubled during an uncomfortable practice session ahead of the US Open.

Harriet Dart is the only other female British player taking part in the US Open, after Heather Watson and Katie Boulter both lost in qualifying.

Dart broke into the top 100 for the first time in her career earleir this year, and had a strong showing at Indian Wells which should put her in good stead for her time in New York.

Murray has had injury problems of his own, after he limped off the court in his second round defeat to compatriot Norrie in Cincinnati.

He has not been seeded for the tournament and will face a tough run if he is to reach the second week of the slam.

Norrie, meanwhile, enters the US Open with a genuine chance of winning his first Grand Slam title after a brilliant 18 months which saw the British No 1 win the prestigious Indian Wells tournament in October of last year.

World No 22 Dan Evans will be hoping to better his fourth-round result from last year’s tournament, and will be heartened from a quarter-final appearance in Washington and a semi-final appearance in Montreal in recent weeks.

Jack Draper will be confident of a good run in the Big Apple after reaching his first Masters quarter-final in Montreal.
