Heavyweights raise eyebrows with mass changes
NSW’s hopes of continuing a remarkable Super Rugby revival have been boosted by the decision of Blues coach Leon MacDonald to name a second-string team for Saturday’s final round clash at Sydney’s Leichhardt Oval.
Young loose forward Anton Segner is the only Blues player to retain his place in the starting line-up from the side that beat the Brumbies in Canberra last weekend.
The ladder-leading Blues have already locked up top spot heading into the finals and so Beauden Barrett, Roger Tuivasa-Sheck, Rieko Ioane and company are all on ice.

“We are in no way disrespecting our opposition,” MacDonald said.
“We have a very healthy respect for the Waratahs and believe we have named a team able to perform to our standards against them.”
The Waratahs have an 8-5 record under new coach Darren Coleman following last year’s winless disaster.

Sixth on the ladder, victory would give NSW a slim chance of hosting a quarterfinal but they are relying on both the Chiefs and Hurricanes to trip up.
The Chiefs are away to the Drua while the Hurricanes are visiting the Force.
