Heatwave Concerns: Patna schools extend summer vacations till June 18 – Times of India

PATNA: In response to the prevailing heatwave and high temperatures posing risks to the health and safety of children, the District Magistrate of Patna, Dr Chandra Shekhar Singh, has issued an order to extend the summer vacations for all private and government schools, including pre-schools and Anganwadi centres, in Patna District up to Class XII until June 18, 2023. The order, enacted under Section 144 of the Code of Criminal Procedure, 1973, aims to protect the well-being of students.
Effective today, i.e., June 12, 2023, the order comes into force and will remain in effect until June 18, 2023. Dr. Chandra Shekhar Singh, in his capacity as the District Magistrate, issued this order on June 11, 2023, with his signature and the seal of the court.
The decision to extend the summer vacations is based on a genuine concern for the health and lives of children in Patna. The heatwave and soaring temperatures prevailing in the district present significant risks, prompting the District Magistrate to take preventive measures.
By temporarily suspending academic activities, the authorities aim to mitigate the potential dangers posed by extreme weather conditions. This measure prioritizes the well-being and safety of students, ensuring their protection during this period of intense heat.
Parents, guardians, and school administrators are urged to adhere to the order and cooperate with the authorities in ensuring the welfare of the students. It is essential to monitor official announcements and updates from the District Magistrate’s office for any further developments or changes in the schedule.
