Health workers bribed to avoid jab: cops

Two anti-vaxxers have been charged with attempted fraud after going to extreme measures to avoid the Covid jab.

Two anti-vaxxers in Western Australia have been arrested and charged after allegedly attempting to bribe health workers in separate extraordinary attempts to avoid getting the Covid-19 vaccine.

A 31 year-old Port Hedland man was arrested and charged with attempted fraud following a visit to a campus in South Hedland.

Police said the man went to the campus for a vaccine appointment on November 10 and was escorted to a booth, where he allegedly attempted to bribe the nurse.

Police claimed the man handed the nurse a note offering money in exchange for a fraudulent vaccination record, which the nurse refused.

He has since been charged with attempted fraud.

Just north of Perth a second person has also been charged after also allegedly attempting to bribe a health worker to avoid the jab.

Geraldton police have charged a 34 year-old woman who allegedly visited a pharmacy on November 8 and asked the pharmacist fraudulently administer the vaccine in exchange for an unspecified amount of money.

The pharmacist refused and the woman left.

The 34-year-old woman from Kalbarri has been charged with one count of attempted fraud.

Both defendants will appear before court later this month.
