Elon Musk on Thursday said that he has hired someone to replace him as the head of Twitter.
NBC Universal executive Linda Yaccarino is in talks to become the next head of Twitter, according to a report in the Wall Street Journal.
In a tweet, Musk said that the company’s new CEO will start in six weeks. He however did not name the individual. Yaccarino, according to reports did not respond to emails seeking a comment. A representative for NBCUniversal said she was in rehearsals for the company’s Upfront presentations to advertisers.
Excited to announce that I’ve hired a new CEO for X/Twitter,” Musk said in a tweet.
In December Twitter users had voted to oust Musk as the chief executive in an unscientific poll he had organised and also promised to honour.
Excited to announce that I’ve hired a new CEO for X/Twitter. She will be starting in ~6 weeks!

“My role will transition to being exec chair & chief technology officer, overseeing product, software & system operations,” Musk had said.
“I will resign as CEO as soon as I find someone foolish enough to take the job!” Musk tweeted in December.
Musk bought Twitter for $44 billion last October and had indicated that he would be in charge only for a limited period of time. He had complained of having too much of work.
Musk, who’s also CEO of Tesla Inc. and Space Exploration Technologies Corp., has drawn criticism for his policy changes at Twitter and also neglecting his other businesses. He had said that he wanted to build Twitter beyond the social media and into an ‘everything app,’ which would include financial services.
