Hasler sacked as Manly turmoil boils over
Manly Sea Eagles coach Des Hasler has been sacked by the club, coming off the back of a disastrous end to their 2022 campaign.
The Sea Eagles will announce the news after a board meeting decided the coach’s fate on Thursday morning.
Hasler took the reins in 2019 after a failed stint by Trent Barrett in the chair.

The Sea Eagles played finals in 2019 and again in 2021, but slid badly in 2020 and this year were cruelled by a season-ending shoulder injury to superstar fullback Tom Trbojevic, and finished 11th on the ladder.
They were destined to play finals, though, until the round 19 rainbow jersey fiasco, after which the club did not win an NRL game.
Hasler previously coached Manly from 2004 to 2011, and led Manly to premierships in 2008 and 2011.
After leaving the club after the 2011 grand final Hasler coached the Bulldogs.
Hasler reportedly fell out with club management following the round 19 jersey saga, and the relationship deteriorated to the point it was untenable.
On Wednesday evening, Nine’s Danny Weidler reported the biggest names at the Sea Eagles – Tom and Jake Trbojevic – were concerned by the instability engulfing the club.
Their manager Paul Sutton revealed his clients were “worried” about how the fallout between Hasler and management would impact the team.
Former Broncos and Rabbitohs head coach Anthony Seibold is in line to replace Hasler at Manly.
